Where Can I Find Information?
1. Encyclopedia articles. Use print encyclopedias in the LMC, or online versions (Information Please, Encarta, etc.) Even if you know a lot about your topic, read an overview article to familiarize yourself with key terms, people, places, etc., (and their correct spellings!)
2. Books. Check the LMS Library Catalog, the Los Angeles Public Library catalog.
3. Magazine and Newspaper (periodical) articles. For late-breaking news and new developments. Use print versions, or limited, Newsstand.
4. Digital Library.
5. Internet. See the LMS Reference Page," or use directories (Yahoo!, About), search engines (Google, AltaVista), meta-search engines (Dog Pile, etc.). Try Vivisimo for “clustered” results. 6. Personal interviews. Do you know someone who has a background in your topic? Is he or she willing to share that knowledge with you? All you have to do is ask!
