Dress Code
Attire and Grooming Regulations 2011-2012
Approved by School Based Management
 
In order to facilitate the optimal academic focus in our school, the following Dress Code has been implemented at Lawrence Middle School:
 
  1. All shirts of blouses must have sleeves and must be long enough to be tucked into pants or shorts.  Exposed midsections, backs, cleavage or bare shoulders are not permitted.  spaghetti strap shirts may not be worn under blouses or alone.  Shirt must meet all dress code standards.
  2. All pants must remain at the waist without the use of a belt, and may be not be more than one size too large (not oversized) 
  3. Ripped pants above the knee are not allowed if the skin is exposed.
  4. Belts cannot be oversized and hang down from belt loops, and belt buckles with initials are not permitted.
  5. Shorts must be at least finger tip length.
  6. Leggings may be worn under dress code appropriate dresses, skirts or shorts.  They may not be worn alone.
  7. Shorts may not be worn in conjunction with high socks.
  8. Platform and open toed shoes, sandals or slippers are not permitted. High heels are not permitted.
  9. Pocket chains are not allowed on campus.
  10. Only “Official” Lawrence Middle School Hats or Visors are permitted on campus. They must be worn outside only. They will be taken away if they are worn inside a building on campus. The brim must be facing forward at all times. Any other non-official hat, hood, or headgear of any kind is not permitted, and will be removed and held in the Dean’s Office until picked up by a parent.
  11. White tee shirts are considered undergarments and are not permitted at school without an outer garment covering them.
  12. Any clothing or accessories that are disruptive to the educational process is not permitted.
  13. Graffiti or inappropriate language is not permitted on backpacks or clothing, including, but not limited to notebooks, planners, no tape or duct tape.
  14. Clothing or insignias that are vulgar or profane, or that advocate racial, ethnic or religious prejudice, gang affiliation, or the use of tobacco, drugs or alcohol, are not permitted.
  15. Gloves may not be worn on campus.
  16. Pajamas are not permitted, only on designated PJ Day.
  17. Blankets are not allowed at school and not acceptable to wear as a jacket.
OTHER ITEMS:
Jewelry: Gauges with points and any jewelry that possess a potential safety hazard are not permitted.
Lockers: No sharing of lockers.
No Balloons.
 
The administration reserves the right, if necessary, to add other items to this list, especially any and all items which affect the safety and security of our students and staff.
